Priory St, Coventry CV1 5FB

Coventry is the fastest growing university in the UK and with over 29,000 students it is the larger of the two universities in the city.

First established in 1843 as the Coventry College of Design, in 1970 it became Lanchester Polytechnic University and then later changed its name to Coventry Polytechnic in 1987. Finally in 1992 it gained university status, offering its students a range of degree courses.

The university has two campuses, the main one being based in the centre of Coventry and where most of its facilities are situated, and the other is located in central London, which focuses on business and management courses. In addition to this the university offers flexible vocational courses in Scarborough, North Yorkshire and East London.

Coventry University teaches over 130 undergraduate degrees and 100 postgraduate degrees across its four faculties:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Business and Law
  • Engineering, Environment and Computing
  • Health and Life Sciences

Alongside this it also offers opportunities to study for foundation degrees and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) and parapsychology and health journalism at postgraduate level. Some of the university’s most impressive facilities are its full-scale Harrier jump jet, wind tunnel and flight simulators.

Coventry University has been ranked highly across a number of the subjects it teaches including: first place in the UK for Film Production and Photography, 5th place for Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism, 7th place for Building and Town and Country Planning, 9th place for Nursing and Midwifery, 10th place for Social Work and its courses in Occupational Therapy and Hospitality and Tourism are rank 4th and 6th respectively in the Complete University Guide 2018.

In terms of University rankings, Coventry University comes in at a respectable 15th place in the UK in university league tables and has been accredited with such accolades as ‘Modern University of the Year’ and ‘University of the Year for Student Experience’.
