Food blogger @Ellacartefood will do live cooking demos every Thursday and teach students how to make simple and delicious meals in their studio or shared kitchen. Residents who take part and share pictures of their finished dishes on their Instagram account, tagging in Downing Students.
This is where our student ambassadors ‘take over’ our Instagram account to live-stream and run their own events based on their passions, interests and skills. It will be anything from student tips and advice to book reviews and guitar lessons.
The first student take over took place on Tuesday 1st September and will take place every other Tuesday thereon.
This takes place the last Tuesday of every month and will pit every residence and team against each other for the chance to win big prizes. All you have to do is join us on Instagram live and our quiz master will guide you through.
This is our chance to bring in experts in the local area around each accommodation, whether that’s from a local restaurant, bar, dance studio, yoga class etc. Once a month, experts will do a 30 minute masterclass in their chosen subject, giving residents the chance to learn a fantastic skill from someone who’s at the top of their game.
Dr Dominique Thompson, a GP and TEDx speaker was our first expert to take part at the beginning of September. She’s a specialist on student mental health and provided tips and advice on building friendships and networks, being a good flatmate, boosting self-confidence and the importance of sleep, exercise and getting outdoors whilst at university.
