Voted UK City of Culture in 2021, Coventry is a great city to study and live in to enhance your university experience. We have put together a guide of some of our favourite hidden gems for you to visit.

Boom Battle Bar

Located on Cathedral Lane, Boom Battle Bar is the ultimate playground with a variety of games and entertainment from:

  • Karaoke booths for your cheesy pop era
  • Axe throwing to relieve the stresses of studying
  • Crazier golf with surprises at every hole
  • Beer pong- the ultimate student game!
  • Shuffleboard- unleash your competitive side and slide your way to victory

Our favourite thing about Boom Battle Bar? The many student perks! It’s Student Night every Wednesday, 50% off Sunday Fundays as well as regular discount for students studying in Warwick and Coventry.

Fargo Village

Fargo Village is a creative quarter on Far Gosford Street. The artistic re-purposed space was designed exclusively for creative, independent businesses and has since become a hub of independent businesses.

From a craft brewery, vegan shopping, and a dedicated street food hall, it’s a must-visit spot for students. And that’s not all; it’s also home to various events, including open jam sessions, makers markets, and so much more. So, if you’re looking for a spot to eat, drink, shop & enjoy, FarGo is for you.

Herbert Art Gallery

Art lovers, this one is for you! Another gem within walking distance of City Village, Herbert Art Gallery is filled with culture, modern art exhibitions and local history. You could easily spend hours enjoying the attractions. We recommend taking a look at the latest; ‘After the end of history: British Working Class Photography 1989-2024’ exhibition. Entry is typically free, with occasional fees for specific exhibitions.

Belgrade Theatre

Less than five minutes away if you are living at City Village, Belgrade Theatre is a must visit to watch a show.  Dating back to 1959, it is known as the largest theatre in the city with shows including: Grease, The Rocky Horror Show and more. If acting is your thing, they even host acting classes. You can see their events calendar or buy tickets to a show via their website here.

World Food Quarter

Coventry’s World Food Quarter will not disappoint. You can sample a range of street food flavours from around the globe.  From Japanese Jinseon, Tipsy’s Chinese BBQ and Xiong Qi for hotpot, this area has something for all taste buds!

Dhillons Brewery

Based on Hales Industrial estate, enjoy a brewery tour at Dhillons Brewery, learn about the brewing process and enjoy freshly brewed beers. A great spot to unwind, chat with friends, and appreciate the art of brewing.
