The ever-growing city of Manchester is the perfect place to start your independence as a student.

Manchester is renowned for being the Northern powerhouse and some might argue, it is even better than London. Whether you’re looking for amazing food, good company, quirky bars or a city with rich history, Manchester is the perfect place for you.

Here are some great activities to do:

Food Markets

Manchester is full of great food markets with all different price ranges. There is always something for everyone at a food market so it’s the perfect place for an after university treat for you and your friends. The latest edition to the city is a new food market called society has just opened only a 5-minute walk away from River Street Tower and it’s indoors, perfect for the cold winter nights

Take a trip to the Northern Quarter

The Northern quarter is full of hidden gems and unique stores on the back alleys of the hight streets, it is a must have visit while you are studying in Manchester.

Head down to China Town

Chinatown is in the heart of Manchester and it is the second largest China town in the UK, full of incredible restaurants and a great atmosphere. The annual Chinese New Year festival is a highlight in the Manchester calendar with stalls and dancing dragons in the famous parade.

Deansgate Locks

The converted arches on Whitworth Street West are home to some of the most popular bars in Manchester. And heck, some of the rowdiest. A hubbub of late-night activity all through the week, the Deansgate Locks have a penchant for a fun-loving’ and youthful crowd. From tiki joints and pocket-friendly boozers to rooftop haunts and gratifying grub, try this rambunctious road for some of Manchester’s most beloved party.

Alberts Schloss

Is a must – see student night in Manchester, don’t let a term go by without experiencing the wacky performers, unusual events and Bavarian-style brews at this Peter Street beer palace.

Not only is there so much to do in and around Manchester as a student but here at River Street Tower we also have great facilities that we make the most of hosting amazing events including Oktoberfest, Day of the dead Festival, Chick flick nights and visits from big brands such as La prairie and Hungry Panda, so there is never a dull moment for our residents. Take a look for yourself…
