As a student in a big city like London sometimes it can be difficult to know where to visit over the Christmas holidays and still work to a student budget. Our student ambassador from Vega Eiza Abid visited Winter Wonderland and has wrote a blog to share the best parts of her visit.

Living in London with Christmas just a few days away what better time to visit…Winter Wonderland! Vega has been the perfect location as a base to explore London at Christmas – Winter Wonderland is less than 30 minutes away by bus or 25 minutes by tube at Vauxhall station!

Similar to previous years, Hyde Park is lit up with neon lights, carnival rides, and attractions as far as the eye can see around the end of November. Every winter from November till January Hyde Park transforms itself into a huge Winter Wonderland theme park for the people of London. This park attracts thousands of people visiting every day and it’s definitely a place to visit if you’re a student living in London in the Christmas period.

They have taken the place of this beautiful retreat in the midst of London and created a visual explosion and a place to feel merry, with Bavarian beer houses, Christmas markets, rollercoasters, and food vendors. All you have to do is book entry tickets online (free in off-peak times and only £5 at busier times).

The sounds, sights, and scents of a fairground engulf you once you enter Winter Wonderland. From mulled wine to various multicultural food stalls, to hot chocolate to the infamous churros that we just had to try, winter wonderland has it all! There are plenty of cool rides to sit on along with an ice rink for those wanting to get their skates on. Not only do they have lots of food and rides to enjoy. There’re also different events going on like ‘Zippos Christmas Circus’, Ice Sculpting, Magical Ice Kingdom for kids just to name a few and so much more to see.

We started our trip by taking a round of the area and going on the rollercoasters we wanted to go on, most of which didn’t have long queues either. We continued taking pictures as we explored encapsulating the many picturesque moments all over. And finished our night by trying to win a big toy in one of the games with some warm food! The whole place feels magically festive and really got us into the Christmas Spirit and I’d definitely recommend it to everyone!
