Want to celebrate the Platinum jubilee but don’t know how? Read on to discover the must visit places during the Jubilee, as London marks the occasion with a series of unmissable events across the capital, including a four-day bank holiday weekend.

Watch the Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour)

More than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians coming together in the traditional Parade to mark The Queen’s official birthday, usually held on the second Saturday in June.

Beginning at Buckingham Palace, the Parade will move down The Mall to Horse Guard’s Parade, joined by members of the Royal Family on horseback and in carriages. The Parade will close with the traditional RAF fly-past, watched by The Queen and members of the Royal Family from the Buckingham Palace balcony. This event is open to the public with no booking required.

Jubilee street parties: The Big Jubilee Lunch

Nationwide, there’s a push for local communities to hold their own street parties, under the umbrella of The Big Jubilee Lunch. Whether it’s sharing a “cuppa” with a neighbour on the doorstep or a bigger bash in the street, join millions of people across the UK to share friendship, food and fun.

Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea

Nothing Is more quintessentially British then afternoon tea so there is no surprise to how many restaurants and hotels are putting together special Platinum Jubilee afternoon tea menus.

Don’t forget you can always make your own afternoon tea for you and your friends and follow the recipe of the Royal chef Mark Flanagan who served traditional tea services to the queen for over a decade.

Platinum Picnic in The Park

On Friday 3rd June Charlton Park will be taken over by the Royal Greenwich Festival Performers with activities reflecting royalty across the globe, so pack a picnic and enjoy some right regal entertainment with friends and family throughout the day, as they celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. This event is free to come along to!

Wembley Park Jubilee Dance Party

Live music, circus acts, street performers and a whole lot of dances. Transforming Wemberly park into a giant street party on the 4th June. With five stages of live acts, DJs and plenty of dancing, the totally free, all-day family-fun festival welcomes everyone to soak up the party festivities

The Platinum Party at the Palace

The BBC and The Royal Family will be hosting this huge celebration and entertainment event at Buckingham palace. The event will feature an incredible range of highlights from global music stars with a full, live orchestra – to actors from film, TV and the stage telling the story and celebrating some of the most significant cultural moments from The Queen’s seven-decade reign. Advanced booking/ ticket is required for this event.

The Great British Bake Off – Downing students’ competition

To mark the occasion of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, we’re giving you and a friend a chance to win a special Jubilee Afternoon Tea in the 5-star London hotel, The Berkeley! All you need to do is show off your baking skills…

The Recipe to win:

Step 1: Bake an amazing cake, take a picture and tag us on Instagram @downing_students using #DowningJubilee by 2nd June (the start of the Jubilee celebrations)

Step 2: A panel of judges from Downing Students will review the submissions

Step 3: The winner will be announced on 6th June

The winner will be notified and will win a Jubilee Afternoon Tea for 2 at the 5-star Berkeley Hotel, with transport included.
