Job Title: Social Rep
Salary: £8.45ph
Duration: September 2019 – June 2020 (unless otherwise notified)
Hours: Work is relatively flexible and there are various hours and activities for you to get involved in. A minimum of 6 hours per week is required for this role. You will be required to commit to certain events.
Location: Positions available in Cambridge, Coventry, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London and Newcastle. (Not applicable to residents staying in The Atlas or The Electra)

International students must have a tier 4 visa.

A Social Rep is someone who enjoys meeting new people, encourages others to get involved and is happy to help answer any questions someone may have. They are always eager to help out, make friends and ensure new arrivals settle in and make the most out of their time while at University.
Welcome students and parents on move in weekend and help new residents feel instantly welcome and at home.
Attend, organise and host events including large events (e.g. Welcome Party), weekly events (e.g. Movie Nights and Afternoon Tea), and off-site days/nights.
Encourage students to attend social events and help to create a community within the accommodation.
Act as a valuable contributor to the social media presence of Downing Students by engaging with content regularly (Liking, sharing, commenting, tagging, re-posting)
Regularly post in the residents Facebook group, notifying students of local events, posting content from internal social activities and generally starting on topic conversations using polls etc. (A minimum of 3 posts per week)
Take good quality photos locally and at events.
Produce content required from the marketing team for closed resident group and main Downing Students social accounts (e.g. Instagram story take overs, vlogs and blogs)
Take ownership of your ‘social board’ in the common area… a place you can put up posters, reminders and local event info, discounts etc.
Ensure all students who require additional support are sign posted to the appropriate teams.
Represent Downing Students and help answer questions at accommodation fairs and open days
Use your bedroom on an adhoc basis for prospective tenant viewings.
Be friendly, respectful, honest, approachable and happy to answer questions
Be a positive representative and current resident of Downing Students
Use own initiative and creativity
Identify when you should make a decision or when to defer to site team.
Have a can-do, flexible approach but also be reliable and able to commit to certain hours and events.
Be a role model to other residents
Excellent communication skills and confident in approaching new people
Confident using social media including Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat
Confident taking good quality photographs and videos using own phone.
Reliable and observant of when others need support
Energetic and enthusiastic with drive to want to succeed
Willingness to learn and go above and beyond
A pro-active attitude
Team working and organisational skills
You will need to be available to start work in September and work at least 6 hours per week.
You will be expected to complete tasks without supervision and often in your own time. This is not an office-based role but regular hours are required each week.
