Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and whether you are happily loved up or prefer not to think about it – 14th February can be a fun time to celebrate, especially if you need to do valentine’s day on a budget. If you are stuck for ideas for Valentine’s Day, here are our top tips.

TREAT YOURSELF

Remember, Valentine’s Day can be a day to celebrate you, so do things that make you happy. Enjoy things like buying your favourite flowers or enjoying a delicious cake! While you might not buy into the heart-shaped Valentine’s nonsense, there’s no denying that some people find it difficult to get through the day without being hard on themselves. A simple act of kindness can really turn someone’s day around and put a smile on their face. This, in turn, will cheer you up too.

Palentine’s movie marathon

If movie night with bae isn’t for you and you are living your best life single, enjoy a major movie marathon with fellow flatmates and friends. Head to your resident cinema room with all your favourite snacks and cosy blankets and choose a theme, whether it is scary or comedy, you’ll be in for a good night!

Have a Galentine’s Spa Night

Have a pamper night with friends meaning you don’t even have to spend a lot. You can even be creative by making your own face masks or bringing out your nail kit for an at-home manicure. Watch your favourite rom-com and take selfies while you wait for the masks to dry.

Date Night In

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean fancy dinners in expensive restaurants. Why not host a Valentine’s meal in the comfort of your own living space? You can even be creative with a themed date night, perfect for doing valentines day on a budget with that special someone or friends.

If you are a Vega resident, take full advantage of your private dining area, for the most exclusive dinner dates.

Get creative

Gifts, cards, chocolates, flowers- the list of traditional Valentine’s Day goodies can cost a lot of money. When you think of cheap valentine’s day gifts, you can get creative and make gifts to give to friends or a special somebody.  Or, if they enjoy music, why not make them a playlist? Think outside the box -taking the time and effort to plan and make something shows your other half you care without breaking the bank.

Games Night

Host a games night between you and your tribe whether it is pool, table tennis or classic board games. This is a great way to spend time with your favourite people without even spending a lot of money!

Host a karaoke contest

A perfect excuse to blast out some cheesy pop classics and dance like nobody is watching with your best friends!

Don’t forget, Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romance, it is also a chance to celebrate those that mean the most to you and make them feel special in the process- no matter how big or small the gesture is.
