VALENTINE’S DAY FUN! Five of the best virtual Valentine’s events

The season of love this year looks a bit different, with those who would usually spend the day going for a romantic meal with a loved one or a night out with friends rethinking their plans to suit the third lockdown. But, just because it’s the first Valentine’s Day in lockdown, that doesn’t mean we can’t feel the love!

At Downing, we’ve put on lots of virtual entertainment to keep you entertained during lockdown over on our Instagram. Alternatively, we’ve chosen five fab Valentine’s virtual events for couples and friends this February 14th:

 

Art Sippers – Valentine’s Day Special – “Art Hearty”

Grab your paintbrush and a drink for this energetic interactive experience hosted by Art Sippers. Suitable for complete beginners all the way up to the modern day Picasso’s amongst us, this two hour event will see participants receive step-by-step instructions of a chosen painting, as well as a cocktail demonstration, allowing you to pour the best drink to accompany your artistic creation.

With music, a quiz, a competition and a lot of laughs, you’ll end the experience with a new skill and some new art. Virtual Experience Boxes can be purchased separately, but are not mandatory to enjoy the evening.

 

Hamlet comedy online valentine’s special!

If you’re looking for some laughs this lockdown, one of the original comedy clubs, Hamlet Comedy, is back to deliver in a Valentine’s Day special. Resident MC Alexandra Haddow will kick off the show and introduce stellar comedy from the likes of Live at the Apollo’s Stephen Bailey and 8 out of 10 Cats regular Sarah Keyworth, plus more!

Tickets are £6, or £1 for those who are struggling this lockdown, so there’s no need to break for some fun this February 14th.

 

Valentine’s chocolate lava cake – free workshop

For those on a budget, or with a sweet tooth, BAKE IT UP! by Lorna brings this free half-hour workshop on how to create a decadent molten chocolate lava cake!

Register to get the free recipe, and log in at 7pm for a walkthrough and special tips on how to bake the perfect cake to impress a loved one, some friends, or even just to enjoy whilst watching Valentine’s films on Netflix!

Shake, rattle, and roasted! A 1950s murder mystery

For those who want something a bit different this Valentine’s Day, Play Dead London are hosting a live, immersive, online murder mystery that sees you working as a detective to solve the case of the murder of Gloria Summers, Prom Queen and all-American golden girl of Magnolia High.

The experience lasts for an hour and 15 minutes, and there are slots from 4pm-8pm, so there’s no need to miss out!

 

Escape from Alcotraz: virtual experience

From Friday 12th February @ various times

If romance isn’t for you, there’s always the opportunity to escape the lockdown in this unique live cinematic experience brought to you by Alcotraz. From the comfort and safety of your own sofa, you and your house mates play former inmates of Alcotraz helping a suspected bootlegging gang member, Inmate Harrison, escape from prison. You’ll help navigate CCTV footage of inside Alcotraz to help Harrison move around the prison, as well helping Harrison unlock evidence of where the bootlegging gang kept their riches from the smuggling empire.

You will also have the change to purchase the ‘Prison Hooch’ being brewed inside Alcotraz, in six delicious flavours, Gin Berry Sour, Passionfruit Spritz, Espresso Martini, Pineapple Margarita, Cask Aged Negroni, Seville Orange Old Fashioned and Rhubarb Cosmopolitan.
